Founded by Agnes Nata, a Singaporian-Indonesian textile artist and art director, Marramas is an online Japan based platform where she shares her knowledge and passion for textiles. Working with local artisans in Japan and Indonesia she brings the two countries together. We were thrilled to collaborate with her, to help develop the brand concept and the identity, including a logo, key illustrations, and social media templates.
The name Marramas was inspired by an ancient Arabic culture and the name carries a meaning of a golden thread. This is why we drew inspiration from the Arabic alphabets, which have a beautiful fluid aesthetic, and used them in the logotype. We decided to make the logo in lowercase as the shape of the letters reminded us of the movement of stitching fabric.
